What are the deadlines?
The candidacy file must be submitted in November 2008; several visits of the candidate sites by the FEI will be organized and the final decision will be made by the members of the board of the FEI in April 2009.
What areas of action must be carried out in order win this bid?
The Normandy 2014 candidacy committee must do everything possible to create a candidacy file which will be able to convince the FEI, which is the overall decider. To do this, it is just as important to draw up an excellent technical file as it is to develop and highlight all of the region’s advantages and additionally to obtain the backing of the biggest number of people thus proving the mobilization and the unanimous support of the French people.
The excellence of the technical file
The technical part of the file will be put together using the best Norman, French and international experts in each of the disciplines...The excellence of the organisational logistics and the links between the different competitions will be ensured by the direct involvement of the FFE and through the recommendations of Amaury Sport Organisation, the company which organises the Tour de France, the Dakar Rally, and the French Open Golf Championship etc…
A progressive preparation and a « full-size rehearsal »
To prove Normandy’s capacity to host and organize an international multidisciplinary event, the Lower Normandy Region with ASO has undertaken to organise the “Rencontres Internationales des Disciplines Equestre” (international meetings for equestrian disciplines for show jumping, eventing and driving) in Deauville every September… This is a kind of mini WEG and the RIDE will eventually be used as a test event in 2012 and 2013 on the site of the WEG 2014.
