The candidacy for the WEG 2014: a unifying approach
This is the second time that Normandy is presenting a candidacy file to organise the World Equestrian Games. For this second candidacy, Normandy has the full support of the French Equestrian Federation and the unanimous backing of all the political and economic players of the regional equine industry.
By using the experience that was acquired during the first candidacy, Normandy has decided to:
- reinforce the region's capacity to organise international competitions which has resulted in its partnership with ASO to organise the RIDE (« Rencontre Internationales des Disciplines Equestres » – international meetings for equestrian disciplines), a kind of mini-WEG which was organised for the second time in Deauville in 2007
- undertake a project to build equestrian facilities of national standing which are adapted to hosting these kind of events on the site of the WEG.
Although the 2010 candidacy was principally managed by the Regional Council of Lower Normandy, this new challenge is part of a « unifying approach » for Normandy. |
